Layoff News
Exel, a logistics company, is laying off 69 people at a Chrysler distribution center in Ohio. Most of the layoffs are interstate truck drivers who carried Chrysler parts from the center to dealers in various states. The distribution center will remain open but will be operated by another logistics company, Dedicated Logistics Inc., as of April 4. DLI wants to use a non union workforce, according to Teamsters Local 507, which means the current unionized drivers will no longer have a job under the new management. The union is trying to get DLI to negotiate, in hopes that the drivers can continue on in their current positions.
