Pharmaceutical Giant, Merck, plans to hire 150 new employees this year at its vaccine factory in Durham. Last year, the company hired 230 people to the plant, which packages vaccines and will eventually grow the vaccines as well.
The plant manager, John Wagner, told the News Observer that the company is looking to amp up hiring to fulfill the needs of it’s expansion.
Company Spokeswoman, Cheznee Johnson, said, “Merck’s Durham facility is growing tremendously, we’ve had excellent success in getting highly-skilled workers that we need to run our operations and we are confident that this area will continue to support our growing vaccines business.”
The plant will have 450 employees after the 150 planned hires. According to the company, the plant will have around 700 workers once it is fully operational in 2012.
