Austin Powder, an Ohio-based manufacturer of liquid ammonium nitrate, will open a new $110 million facility in Greene County, Tennessee. The material produced at the facility will be used in mining and construction for its explosive properties, as well as its use in liquid fertilizers.
The announcement was made by Governor Bill Haslam, who said, “This is critical to invest over $100 million in a county that has some unemployment issues, in one of our more rural areas. That is what we are trying to focus on.
The new facility is expected to bring in more than 80 jobs to Greene County, where the unemployment rate is at a staggering 12.2 percent.
