Layoff News
Heartland Catfish, based in Itta Bena, Mississippi, will experience temporary layoffs and reduced hours throughout the first half of 2011.
The layoffs and reduced hours will affect workers at plants in Mississippi and Alabama.
According to Danny Walker, the CEO of Heartland, the entire industry is being faced with a shortage of catfish. He added that the supply will dwindle during the next four months.
Once the supply returns, Walker says the company will reinstate employees.
