In 2005 the Pentagon recommended the closure of Fort Monmouth in New Jersey and the relocation of its mission to Aberdeen, Maryland. Congress and the President signed off on the closure. At the time, it was estimated that the closure would cost over 9,000 jobs and save the taxpayers $1 Billion in the long run. The base will cease operations by mid-september of this year.
As the closure draws closer, three defense contractors have announced that they will lay off a total of 525 workers. The contractors are L-3 Services Inc., CTSC LLC, and TECOM-Vinnell Services. Monmouth County will provide job counseling and training to affected workers using a $3.8 Million dollar grant.
Only TravelingCrossing consolidates every job it can find in the domain and puts all of the job listings it locates in one place.
