Dean Foods, already headquartered in Dallas, is planning to open a new production facility there that is expected to bring in as many as 100 new jobs by the time it begins operations in the first quarter of 2012. The plant is being built on a piece of property the company bought out of bankruptcy in 2006. The existing structure is already being converted to produce some of the products Dean Foods distributes under its WhiteWave-Alpro Foods line.
Dean has about 27,000 employees worldwide, with about 1,500 of them in and around Dallas. Besides its headquarters, the company already has two local manufacturing plants.
