ConocoPhillips says it plans to relocate 750 jobs out of Ponca City, Oklahoma within two years.
The decision to move the non-refinery positions was announced in a town hall meeting in Ponca City today.
Company spokeswoman Tracy Harlow said the first 250 jobs will be moved this year, with 180 going to Houston, and the rest to Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
The positions moving first include jobs in technical services, research and development, engineering and support, human resources and Internet technology, among others.
By 2012, the onetime home of Conoco could no longer have a company non-refining presence other than the Conoco museum. The nearly 750 refinery positions will remain in Ponca City.
