Chicago’s Norwegian American Hospital is eliminating 42 jobs, or nearly 6% of its 725-member workforce.
Twenty-two workers will lose their jobs, and another 20 open positions will not be filled.
In addition, a cost-reduction plan will include “re-evaluating and renegotiating nearly every hospital vendor contract and fee-for-service agreement [and] reducing management compensation across the board,” the hospital said.
The hospital did not specify the category of jobs eliminated.
Located on Chicago’s West Side, Norwegian American Hospital is a 200-bed acute care hospital employing over 800 medical professionals. It was founded in 1894.
