Florida to Privatize Their Prison System, to the Advantage of Private Prison Businesses

Florida’s unprecedented plan to privatize their prison system looks to be a boon for private prison operators. With the third largest prison system in the country, prison company executives have spoken off-the-record about their excitement with the plan. Although the state’s measure has met with some opposition from liberal and conservative critics, Republican Florida Governor Rick Scott is expected to sign the initiative.
