Though the recent Wall Street Journal report does not make any specific mention of layoffs at Pfizer, the facts do lead to an inescapable inference that the pharmaceutical giant is likely to have more layoffs from now until 2012. The massive layoffs by the company at the time of its merger with Wyeth in 2009 are most likely to repeat. The company is implementing not only administrative cost cutting measures, but it is also reviewing its spending on travel, promotion, printed material and electronic gear by sales reps, which are warning signals enough to indicate massive layoffs.
