Salinas police agrees for pay cuts to avoid layoffs

- The police in Salinas, CA, have agreed to pay cuts and a reduction of pension benefits in order to avoid layoffs. The two year agreement will see a 13% cut in pay and benefits, and save the city $4 million. The deal includes elimination of vacant positions and retirement of five officers. The city council must approve the agreement.
