Coordinated by District  Council 37, thousands of city workers, civic leaders and members of  clergy planning to protest against layoffs and cost cuts outside City  Hall.  Municipal Labor Committee is trying its level best to stave off  these layoffs by tapping  into its rainy-day fund. DC 37 Executive  Director Lillian Roberts said that thousands of these painful cuts can  be avoided if the  City is aggressively collecting its revenues. Many  agencies are searching to trim their budgets by offering schemes like  voluntary attrition program to its employees.
