Carlyle raises $1 billion for South America funds

The Carlyle Group has invested $1 billion in the South America Buyout Fund, focusing mainly on Brazil. The South America Buyout Fund’s first goal was $500 million. Carlyle has also spent $225 million together with Banco do Brasil on Brazilian deals. The Carlyle program in Washington is planning to raise $500 million to spend on sub-Saharan Africa.
