Mall Owner Macerich to Cut 142 Jobs By Erik Even  |  Dated: 02-25-2009

Macerich, a shopping mall owner, is performing a five percent workforce reduction it expects to complete before the end of March.

The company said it would cut 142 employees from its total workforce of of 2,845.

A spokeswoman for Santa, Monica, California-based company declined to identify the geographical areas where the cuts would occur. It has malls in California, Arizona, Washington, Connecticut, New Jersey, South Dakota, Colorado, Texas, Kentucky, Oregon and New York.
