After learning that 140 workers would lose their jobs, employees at Echo Windows in Red Oak, Iowa spoke out against the new company ownership.
“What else do you have to say other than 100 cars driving out of the parking lot with no job,” said Nate Lun, a supervisor who lost his job. “What else? Congratulations, you’ve crushed a community. That’s about it,” Lun said.
Echo CEO Rich Gillman arrived at the plant Monday afternoon and went into immediate discussions with the plant’s management.
Gillman bought Echo in December.
Dwayne Adams blamed the layoffs on poor management. “They … basically ran it into the ground, the way we see it,” Adams said.
“I’ve developed a relationship with all these people,” Nun said through tears. “And what are they going to do now? That’s it.”
Local management said they need to find an investor willing to pay $650,000 to buy the facility from Echo Windows.
