Layoff News
Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is moving forward with plans to begin laying of police troopers, with a substantial number losing their jobs on Wednesday. He said he didn’t want to proceed with cutting the troopers — all assigned to patrol duties and graduates of the most recent trooper class but had no choice.
Some of the laid-off troopers can eventually be rehired to fill jobs expected to be vacated by retiring troopers, but it was unclear how long that process might take.
Senate Minority Leader John McKinney, R-Fairfield, questioned Malloy’s decision to follow through with the layoff notices.
