202 workers will be laid off at Briggs & Stratton’s Poplar Bluff plant

202 workers will be laid off at its Poplar Bluff plant, beginning Oct. 14 announced by Briggs & Stratton Corp. It will affect 92 seasonal employees and 110 full- and part-time employees. Economic conditions and the seasonal nature of business is the main cause and they need to adjust production schedules to manage finished goods inventories to planned levels. Still after the layoffs plant will have 1,037 workers.
