Merger Between Two Energy Companies to Cause 2,000 Jobs to be Lost

The upcoming merger between Duke Energy and Progress Energy will cause about 2,000 jobs to be lost, which is more than twice what was previously thought. The reductions in the workforce will happen over the next three years, and they also include 300 to 400 currently open positions. The rest of the 2,000 will try to be achieved through people leaving voluntarily as much as possible.
