In a continuing effort to become more efficient, Intel Corp. is planning to cut some more jobs at its Rio Rancho, New Mexico manufacturing plant. This comes on the heels of the tech company’s job cuts in January.
Spokeswoman Liz Shipley said the plant had notified some of its support groups in November that layoffs were likely in the near future. Though she would not say a specific number, Shipley said the cuts this time would be “significantly lower” than the 100 to 200 layoffs experienced in January.
Shipley said Intel is still committed to New Mexico. The company in February announced that it plans to invest $2.5 billion in its Rio Rancho facility over the next two years.
