Eligibility for Employment Requirements By jim  |  Dated: 10-29-2011

Two states, Utah and Washington, have recently passed laws that will require an E-Verify system to determine if recently employed individuals are actually legal citizens of the United States. The two areas that have passed this law which states that employers must use the E-Verify system include Cowlitz County and Washington County.

The E-Verify system is a method that will be used by employers to determine if the employees that they have hired are eligible to work in America. The eligibility will be determined depending if the employee is a legal citizen in the United States. Immigrants are welcome to work for companies in the United States but illegal immigrants are not supposed to be working in the  United States because they do not have the right to do so.

The purpose of this system is to eliminate illegal immigrants from being able to obtain jobs in the United States. There are thousands of immigrants who move to the United States from all over the world each year. The United States openly welcomes many immigrants to become citizens of the United States and they have absolutely no problem with the immigrants finding work in America. In fact, there are even special business loans and grants designed to specifically help immigrants get started with a successful business or career. However, immigration becomes a problems when immigrants do not obtain a green card for legal citizenship to the United States.

When immigrants enter the country illegally, they are considered illegal aliens. Many of these illegal aliens are living in the United States and are somehow finding ways to get jobs which can be illegal. Some jobs will require a social security number and credit check of a potential employee but there are some jobs where this information is not needed.

The E-Verify system helps to eliminate these illegal aliens from being able to sneak their way through the system and obtain employment illegally. Employers who refuse to follow the E-Verify system can be punished by the state. It is illegal for companies and businesses to allow someone to work for them when the employer is well aware of the fact that the individual is an illegal alien.

There is hope that the E-Verify system will continue to be passed on from county to county and state to state. If each state begins to cooperate with this innovative system, the United States will be able to eliminate a lot of the issues that it has concerning illegal aliens. There will also be more employment opportunities for citizens of the United States which will include legal immigrants who have already obtained a green card and have the right to legally work in the United States.
