Will Employment Rates Ever Remain Normal? By jim  |  Dated: 11-10-2011

America would like to see the job rate come down to 6%. However, no one sees that happening anytime soon unless the country starts focusing on job growth. The average job growth has been about 119,000 a month and experts say that needs to almost double.

The labor force is not growing and the economy is not seeing a huge amount of job growth every month. Although job growth is still good, it still needs to get better. If you were to look back to 1970, you would quickly see that the jobs increased by 200,000 a month in this country. Baby boomers and mothers were also out seeking employment during those years.

Immigration will have a lot to do with the numbers in job growth over the next few years. The next 15 years are expected to increase at a slow rate. The small average numbers of job growth in America seem to stay around 100,000 per month. However, experts are keeping out a critical component in this job mess. This country needs to see an increase of 100,000 new jobs just for the people who are entering the workforce. There are still thousands who do not have employment and enough new jobs are not being created for them. Reality shows that the number of jobs created every month needs to at least double.

Employment should not be taking a back seat in today’s economic crisis. Hiring should be the number one area that the president and congress should be worrying about. Again, no one wants to go back to the gloomy days of 2008 and 2009 when the economy was losing almost 800,000 jobs in any given month. The lack of jobs in the economy should be seen more as an emergency and less as “another issue.” Experts agree that today’s economy does not have room for politics and antics. Employment numbers need to be increased and Capitol Hill should make this a number one priority.

The population keeps growing in America and more jobs are being added in that aspect. However there is something key here that a lot of people are missing. Immigrants, moms and new graduates seem to be finding jobs. But the people who are really suffering are the ones who originally lost their jobs when the job market crashed. The Labor Department has a whole slew of findings in which jobs are being added but the original people who lost their jobs are not being put back to work.

Since Barack Obama took office in 2004, no one can answer the question of how we can create more jobs. Whoever becomes the next president will still be wondering how to create jobs. Unless something is done about the job market now, American may never recover from this tragic jobless situation.
