Job Improvement Great for Grads By jim  |  Dated: 11-18-2011

College students who are going to graduate within the next year are going to have a much higher chance of finding employment. Research shows that students who graduated last year will have had more of a troubling time finding employment upon graduation compared to students who will graduate this years. This is partly because of job improvement. Many states and cities in the United States are experiencing job growth which is perfect for anyone who is seeking employment, especially for a new college grad who has earned a degree.

Students who have earned degrees in some of the fields that are particularly in demand right now will have an ever better shot at finding jobs. Some of the job fields that are in demand right now include engineering, IT and computer science, nursing, and even marketing. These fields vary from one another but all have one thing in common, they are very hot right now.

Research that has been performed by the Collegiate Employment Research Institute proves that close to half of the employers who were asked whether or not they plan to hire recent college graduates will, in fact, be planning to hire recent graduates.

The job market is becoming more stable from its instability in 2009 and 2010. With job growth happening all over the United States, employment will be a bit easier to find for recent graduates compared to students who graduated within the past two years. This is fantastic news for students who are beginning their journey in the working world.

Phil Gardner, one of the researchers for the study, says, “We think this growth is going to be more solid.” Gardner also says, “There are more opportunities, there’s more optimism, there’s more certainty in the market. But it’s only going to go to those students who are ready to work.” Gardner says that in previous years, employers said they planned to hire recent college graduates but when it came down to it, they ended up not hiring these students for lack of work and hours and other major cutbacks that took place because of the economy.

The recent report also states that companies who have more than eight employees will be hiring new employers and this will include recent college graduates. Most areas in the United States are expected to hire more employers. Areas in the Northwest are currently not doing as well which means recent graduates should seek employment in other areas especially if they would like to become employed almost immediately after their graduation.

With job growth taking place, it is obvious that the economy is making progress. However, many people argue that progress is not being made fast enough. The economy gets better, but it is doing so at a slow and steady pace.
