Layoffs still looming for Jackson workers

Notifications were recently sent to nearly 130 Jackson employees advising them of potential layoffs in the near term. The affected workers come from the engineering, inspection, animal inspection, planning and zoning, public works, and housing departments. Similar notices have previously been issued and it is unclear how many of the 130 will actually be terminated. Frustration is high given the uncertainty and continued budget pressures that such notices create.
