AgilentAgilent Technologies, which manufactures machines to analyze DNA, chemicals, sound waves and other phenomena, will cut 2,700 jobs in response to a sharp decline in product demand.

Agilent said fiscal 2009 revenue at its electronic-measurement segment is expected to plunge 30%, to a level that will be the lowest in the company’s 10-year history.

Santa Clara, California’s Agilent will also temporarily suspend its share-buyback program until the end of fiscal 2009.

Last month, the company cut 600 jobs.
