Grant Available to Help Veterans By jim  |  Dated: 09-14-2012

The state of Arkansas has just received a grant from the United States Department of Labor and the Veterans’ Employment and Training Service. The grant is worth a total of $1,250,000 and was provided as a way of helping veterans to find employment while also receiving the necessary training and services that will help them to obtain a job, especially in the current tough job market. The Department of Workforce Services made the announcement about the state of Arkansas receiving this useful grant for veterans.

The state of Arkansas was one of 11 different states that received the grant from the Veterans’ Workforce Investment Program. With 11 different states receiving these grants, the amount provided was a total of $11.53 million. The program in the state of Arkansas is referred to as the Arkansas Veterans Education and Training Partnership. This particular program helps hundreds of veterans over the span of three years and also helps to train veterans for jobs in the healthcare field and the renewable energy field. Veterans who do qualify for the program will be able to receive at least $1,000 for training costs and will also receive around $500 for other supportive services that can come in handy, which may include transportation or childcare.

The recipient of the grant was DWS, which will be partnering up with the ARVets. The Director of DWS, Artee Williams, has said, “We are excited to partner with these organizations to train veterans for jobs in today’s economy.” Williams also said, “The DWS veterans representatives at the Arkansas Workforce Centers stand ready to assist veterans who return from deployment and find themselves unemployed. This grant will help us train and assist these men and women who have given their time, effort and heart to serving our country.”

A number of veterans may be interested in the program. Veterans who have disabilities that are connected with their time in the service will be eligible for the program. Veterans who apply within 48 months after being discharged from the military will also be eligible for this program. Veterans who are interested should check ahead of time to see if they are eligible for the program, which will ultimately help them to find employment. The ARVets is an organization that places a number of different veteran organizations together as one to offer the best possible services to the veterans who are in need of assistance and are currently looking for employment. The CEO of ARVets, Nicole Hart, has said, “ARVets is excited about this opportunity to expand services to our veterans here in Arkansas.” She also said, “Of the significant number of applicants nationwide who applied, we are fortunate to be one of the few selected. This grant will allow many veterans the opportunity to receive job training, not only increasing their opportunities, but strengthening the quality of the workforce here in Arkansas. ARVets is proud to be on the frontlines of this fight.”

Only TravelingCrossing consolidates every job it can find in the domain and puts all of the job listings it locates in one place.

  • We have more jobs than any other job board.
  • We list jobs you will not find elsewhere that are hidden in small regional publications and employer websites
  • We collect jobs from more than 4,429,376 websites and post them on our site.
  • We are private, and therefore far fewer people are applying for the jobs on our site than are applying for those on public job boards.
What I liked about the service is that it had such a comprehensive collection of jobs! I was using a number of sites previously and this took up so much time, but in joining EmploymentCrossing, I was able to stop going from site to site and was able to find everything I needed on EmploymentCrossing.
