Nationwide is on Your Side — Unless You Work There

Nationwide Mutual Insurance has eliminated 480 information technology jobs.

The cuts include 230 Nationwide employees and 250 contract workers. The dismissals were made throughout the week and are expected to conclude today.

The cuts are said to be part of an initiative to improve efficiency at the Columbus, Ohio-based insurer. The firm employs more than 35,000 workers nationally.

Dismissed workers will receive 60 days of pay as well as unspecified severance benefits.
