New York Hospital Freezes Hiring

Albany Medical Center of Albany, New York, is eliminating 3% merit raises; implementing a hiring freeze for all but “mission critical” positions; eliminating 125 vacant positions; and reducing leave time by 10%.The hospital expects to lose $2.5 million in funding.
Layoffs are not expected for now. Albany Med has about 7,000 employees.
Albany Med also has postponed a $360 million expansion project.
