ARINC to Cut Jobs By katie  |  Dated: 12-11-2012

ARINC  is a name that many of you have more than likely not heard at all in the past. That is why before we talk about the job cuts to come to the organization lets begin by looking at how the company chooses to describe itself, “Our customers expect results. And everyone at ARINC is dedicated to meeting—even exceeding—your expectations. As the premier provider of communications, engineering, and integration solutions, we help our customers in the defense, commercial, and government industries mitigate risk, improve operational and systems performance and meet program requirements. We are a global company distinguished by our technical strength, knowledge, and experience. Our innovation, disciplined pursuit of excellence, and dedication to your success are all key distinctions that define our past, strengthen our present and focus our future.”

Sadly it looks like the company has decided to cut back more than 100 workers in a move to save on its budget. Job cuts of this size are more than enough to qualify as a mass layoff action under the current federal guidelines. For those of you who are not familiar with the idea of a mass layoff action here is a look at how the federal government defines the term, “The Mass Layoff Statistics (MLS) program collects reports on mass layoff actions that result in workers being separated from their jobs. Monthly mass layoff numbers are from establishments which have at least 50 initial claims for unemployment insurance (UI) filed against them during a 5-week period. Extended mass layoff numbers (issued quarterly) are from a subset of such establishments—where private sector nonfarm employers indicate that 50 or more workers were separated from their jobs for at least 31 days.”
For the time being the company has not confirmed the layoffs, or talked about what kind of a severance package, if any, they are offering to the soon to be displaced workers.

The company chose, in its most recent release, to highlight the a new contract that the firm was awarded, instead of talking about the job cuts come, “ARINC’s Engineering Services, LLC announced today that it has been awarded Task Orders II, III and V of the previously announced Next Generation Wireless Communications II (NGWC II) contract worth $12.4 Million. The value of these two task orders is just over $4.5 Million. Task Order II continues the Joint Capabilities Technology Demonstration through development, testing and certification of the mesh network protocol and sensor applications that began under the previous IDIQ award. Task Order III will demonstrate the capability of satellite tracking technology to provide In-Transit Visibility (ITV) for containers in the Army’s distribution pipeline with near real-time alerts in cases of intrusion. The focus of this task order is to provide and assess a system to track and monitor the progress of ISO shipping containers as they go through the Army’s shipping process from container yard to Port of Debarkation (POD) to the final destination.” For the time being the company has not said any more about the job losses.

Testimonial of the Week

What I liked about the service is that it had such a comprehensive collection of jobs! I was using a number of sites previously and this took up so much time, but in joining EmploymentCrossing, I was able to stop going from site to site and was able to find everything I needed on EmploymentCrossing.
