Layoffs at PBS Coals | TravelingCrossing

With the idling of two mines and layoff of 138 employees by the Pennsylvania based company PBS Coals, the sign of contraction of the coal market is getting clearer than ever. The PBS officials hesitated to comment immediately on the announcement of idling two mines, Roytown and Hart, five months after the company has laid off a number of its workforce. The company officials, in a news release, blame this layoffs on the softening demand of coal in the market and the tight regulations imposed on the company by the US Environmental Protection Agency.
