Shaffer says his district has seen families move to more compact urban areas in recent years, rather than pay for additional fuel to ferry students to schools in Brown County. School board members have considered combining classrooms and the students in them to save money. “From a parent’s perspective, and I guess I would be a little bit unique, as a parent I’ve always been more concerned about the right teacher for my student and my student getting the right form of learning so I would be more focused on that,” Bowden says.
