Orlando Won’t Hire 25 Cops

Orlando, Florida will return $375,000 in federal grant money intended for hiring 25 new police officers.The grant would have only paid a portion of the officers’ personnel costs, and the city can’t afford the rest.
The city has hired 50 new officers since 2006. Mayor Buddy Dyer launched a three-year public safety initiative that year.
