It’s quite painful to note that a series of companies are either in the verge of declaring closure or announcing mass layoffs. According to the Illinois Department of Communication and Economic Development, Ball Metal Beverage Packaging will soon be closing its Elgin facility, and in the process layoff 61 employees by April 27, whereas Flying Food Fare Midway plans to layoff 87 employees by April 28. Among others planning to follow suit are General Cable and John Costigan Residential Center.
