Arizona School District Lays Off 22

The Glendale [Arizona] Elementary School District is laying off 9 school psychologists, three social workers, four administrators and a student adviser, due to budget uncertainties.

Also, one art teacher and four physical education teachers were laid off due to lower enrollment projections.

The school board also unanimously approved a 1% pay cut, and up to five furlough days for teachers and administrators.

The district is considering additional layoffs for classified staff.
