MBUSD budget meeting Wednesday aims to offset teacher layoffs

In hopes that the school district can identify cuts elsewhere to help offset teacher layoffs, the Manhattan Beach school board is holding a special budget meeting Wednesday, March 27, at 5:30 p.m. in the district’s board room. All are invited to participate. Faced with a significant loss in federal revenue and increase in personnel expenses, the district was forced to deliver pink slips to two dozen teachers last week.
