Rumor: New Yahoo! CEO Planning Layoffs

Insiders are telling the press that Yahoo!’s new CEO Carol Bartz is planning to anounce a new round of layoffs at the search firm. The announcement may come as soon as tomorrow, when Yahoo! reports its Q1 financial results.

The layoffs could affect several hundred employees. Yahoo! declined to comment.

The cuts will be the third round of layoffs at Yahoo in little more than a year. The company laid off about 1,000 workers early in 2008, then cut 1,400 in Q4.

Yahoo! now has 13,600 employees.
