The workers layoff issue seems to have left Cincinnati leaders quite confused about how to balance the 2014 budget. However, a better picture is likely to emerge regarding how many first responders might lose their jobs as a result of layoffs once the Cincinnati City Council offers a budget online in the coming days. City Solicitor John Curp said layoffs would be required to temporarily balance the budget. City Manager Milton Dohoney has said while 338 municipal workers would face the axe, 105 jobs would continue to remain vacant.
