Budget Chairman Finds Common Ground with Memphis Mayor on Layoffs By EmploymentCrossing  |  Dated: 06-22-2013
Finally, it appears that a consensus opinion is emerging in the budget process on layoffs between Memphis City Council Budget Chairman, Jim Strickland and Mayor A C Wharton. While the City Council has approved laying off 400 jobs, 300 positions will not be filled when retirements occur, and the remaining 100 will receive pink slips.
