State Budget Crisis Affecting County’s Health Department

In Washington State, in the northwest United States of America, budgetary woes are affecting one county’s healthcare system. The County commissioners of Wahkiakum County have decided to suspend state medical and other social support contracts, since the state failed to meet its own funding deadline. The law prohibits the funding of these programs without legislative support, but the county can reinstate the programs with the return of the funding.
