HD Smith Cancels Expansion, 600 New Jobs

Springfield, Illinois’ HD Smith has announced that in light of the economy, it has scuttled its plans for a $45 million expansion in the city. The expansion was to create 600 jobs over five years.

The firm hopes to go forward with the expansion if the economy improves.

Founded in 1954, HD Smith supplies pharmaceuticals, over-the-counter items, and home health care products for retail, hospital, or alternate care.
