Lockheed Martin will eliminate 225 jobs at its Owego, New York-based Systems Integration plant, after a recommendation by the Secretary of Defense to cancel two of its construction programs.
Affected workers will be notified next month, and will get severance packages.
The Bethesda, Maryland-based Lockheed employs about 4,000 people in Owego.
Lockheed Martin is a multinational aerospace manufacturer and advanced technology company, formed in 1995 by the merger of Lockheed with Martin Marietta, and employs 140,000 people worldwide. It is the world’s largest defense contractor by revenue.
