October employment reports indicate that women are doing better than men in the economy. In fact, women have regained all of the jobs that were lost during the recession. To date, this is the highest number of employed women ever. The Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that today, women hold 67,486,000 positions, which brings them 100,000 over their prior peak that was held in March of 2008.

The recession hit men and women hard, but this past year, women have been gaining a steady amount of employment. Numbers show that in June, women had regained 91 percent of the 2.7 million jobs that were lost during the recession. Men, on the other hand, have only regained 68 percent of their lost jobs. As of October, 100 percent of the lost jobs were regained by women. In October, men had only regained 73 percent of the 6 million jobs that were lost in 2008.

According to TIME.com, some of the industries in the private sector that have witnessed job growth for women include business services, health and education and hospitality. October reports show that women gained 90,000 of the 204,000 added private sector jobs, largely in hospitality. There was an increase in the gap between men, and women employees has decreased from 3.4 million jobs at the beginning of the recession to 1.6 million in October 2013.
