Amylin to Reduce Workforce by 200

Amylin, which manufactures the diabetes drug Byetta through a partnership with Eli Lilly, will cut 200 sales jobs as that division in restructured.

Byetta sales have fallen because of safety concerns.

Founded in 1987, Amylin Pharmaceuticals is a biopharmaceutical company based in San Diego, California. The company is engaged in the discovery, development and commercialization of drug candidates for the treatment of diabetes, obesity and other diseases. Currently, Amylin produces two drugs, Symlin and Byetta, both for diabetes.
