Norfolk Southern to Lay Off 89 Ohio Workers

The Norfolk Southern Railway will cut 86 workers at its Buckeye Yard in Columbus, Ohio.The layoffs take effect July 3rd, so Happy Independence Day!
The Norfolk, Virginia firm has idled most of its operations at the Buckeye Yard. In Q1, the railway saw profits fall 39%.
Founded in 1990, the Norfolk Southern Railway is a major Class I railroad, owned by the Norfolk Southern Corporation. The company operates 21,500 route miles in 22 eastern states, the District of Columbia and the province of Ontario, Canada. It employs 30,000 people nationwide.
