Complaints by Democratic New York Senator Chuck Schumer and others have cause the Federal Aviation Administration to scuttle plans to move engineering jobs from Queens, New York to Atlanta, Georgia.
The FAA had planned to relocate up to 100 jobs from its Jamaica, Queens regional HQ. The move would have been complete in 2011.
The FAA is still hiring for it College Park, Georgia facility.
The Federal Aviation Administration is an agency of the US Department of Transportation, with authority to regulate and oversee all aspects of civil aviation in the US. The Federal Aviation Act of 1958 created the group under the name “Federal Aviation Agency,” and adopted its current name in 1967 when it became a part of the DOT.
