AMD to Create 6,500 New York Jobs

Advanced Micro Devices, and its newly-spun-off manufacturing arm Globalfoundries, have begin construction of a $4.2 billion semiconductor plant in Saratoga Springs, New York.The plant will be finished in 2012, and will create 1,500 direct jobs and 5,000 indirect jobs.
Globalfoundries is owned by AMD and the Abu Dhabi-based investment firm Advanced Technology Investment.
Advanced Micro Devices is an American multinational semiconductor company based in Sunnyvale, California, that develops computer processors and related technologies for commercial and consumer markets.
