Detroit Metro Airport to Cut 60 Positions

Detroit Metro Airport will cut as many as 59 positions by October. Layoffs are being considered.

The airport employs 659 workers.

The Wayne County Airport Authority, which operates the airport, is adjusting to a 20% drop in revenues from parking, car rentals, and concessions. Delta Air Lines, Detroit Metro’s largest airline, plans to cut its capacity there by 8% in Q4.

Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport is a major international airport in Romulus, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. It is the state’s busiest airport. In 2008, Detroit Metro Airport was the 13th-busiest airport in the United States, and the 24th busiest airport in the world in terms of passenger traffic.
