Stimulus Saves, Adds Jobs at Stanford Med

The Stanford University School of Medicine, which is using stimulus funds to create youth Summer jobs, will spend $18 million of federal stimulus funding to create or retain at least 34 research jobs.

The funds were made available through the National Institutes of Health to support research on pain, eye disease, cancer, tissue engineering & transplantation, and other research areas.

At least 45 medical school researchers have received stimulus funds.

Stanford University School of Medicine is a leading medical school, located at Stanford University Medical Center in Stanford, California. Founded in 1908 in San Francisco as Cooper Medical College, it is the oldest continuously running medical school in the western United States. The medical school moved to the Stanford Campus in 1959.
