Boston Hotel Extends Offer To 98 Recently Fired Housekeepers

Hotel giant, Hyatt Hotels Corp, has succumbed to pressure they have been under since Aug. 31, when, in a move to cut costs, they fired 98 housekeepers at three of their Boston locations. The $15 an hour employees were swapped with an Atlanta based outsourcing firm, Hospitality Staffing Solutions, whose employees make $8 an hour.Some of the housekeepers in question had worked for Hyatt for over 20 years.
Those who do not take Hyatt’s offer will be paid their full wages until March or until they find permanent jobs.
“Every housekeeping employee who wants a job will have one,” said Phil Stamm, general manager of the Hyatt Regency Boston. “That is our promise.”
