Best Buy Will Boost Holiday Employment

Best Buy announced today that they would hire more seasonal staff this year than last year. High demand for flat screen TV’s, smartphones and netbooks are driving the decision to increase staff for the holidays. CEO Brian Dunn said that sales of flat screen TV’s this July outpaced flat screen sales last December.

A majority of large retailers are expected to keep seasonal hiring at or below last year’s levels. Best Buy and rival electronics retailer hhgregg have benefited from the demise of Circuit City.
