Autoparts Maker Metavation Closes Plant; 122 Jobs Lost

Metavation, a producer of parts for the automotive industry, has announced that 122 workers will lose their jobs due to the closure of a plant in Grand Traverse County, Michigan. Employees were notified on Friday about the closure.Metavation will be consolidating their facilities. Most of the lines will be transplanted to a plant in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, while a third of the lines will be placed in Mexico.
The layoffs will begin taking place on December 4th and will be finalized once the plant completes current orders.
According to officials, automakers have slowed production, leaving a surplus at the supply level. Metavation supplies parts to American Axle, General Motors, Chrysler and Ford.
